For my final day in Hawai'i, I go surfing at Waikiki Beach!
Month: January 2023
1/11: Aloha, Kilauea
During my last day on the Big Island, I finish up my work, pack up, and visit Kilauea for the last time - until further notice, at least.
1/10: The Emerald Cove
I travel to the southernmost point of the United States and, through my blood, sweat, and tears, enjoy an amazing natural rarity.
1/9: Song of the Sea
The long-awaited beach day has arrived!
1/8: Sun and Moon
Another work day for me... so of course I head out to the caldera twice to get some comparison shots!
1/7: 2018 – Kilauea Makes Her Mark
I complete my third day on Mauna Iki and learn a bit about the last big eruption here in Hawai'i: Kilauea 2018.
1/6: The Quest for Mauna Iki
Today's day in the field was something out of an Indiana Jones movie - starring me, some very unstable lava, and some mysteries to uncover.
1/5: The Awakening of Pele
We wake up to a frightening earthquake, tackle our hardest day in the field yet, and are met with a huge surprise.
1/4: Rest Day
I spent the day to work on my project and prepare for three days of intense mapping.
1/3: Edges of the Earth
We measure the displacement along the Koa'e Fault Zone and venture into the jungle at night to see the caldera.
